Whether You fancy being a bushcraft Instructor or develop your bushcraft skills Outdoors Ireland has a course to suit.

One of the most popular enquiries we get here at EcoActiveSocial.ie is from people interested in doing a bushcraft course with many specifically wanting to learn the skills that enable them to teach bushcraft.

Well. you will be delighted to know that Nathan Kingerlee of OutdoorsIreland.com has put together a range of bushcraft courses, from beginners to full instructor training. These courses were devised by Nathan to fill the very gap I mention above and offer an excellent rang of skills from basic foraging to fire management, shelter building to tarp setup and cooking outdoors etc.

He has bushcraft courses taking place in Aril, may and October 2025 all based in the beautiful Glengarriff area of West Cork.

“There currently is no national governing body and no national qualification for bushcraft in Ireland or UK; so this course has been designed to fill a gap. This is an in-house Outdoors Ireland Training School Certified Course. You will also receive a Leave No Trace Awareness Certificate, which is recognised/certified in Ireland and UK. The Leave  No Trace Awareness Certificate will allow you to progress into Leave No Trace Trainer.”

They also train and assess for Lowland Leader (awarded by Mountaineering Ireland) and Leave No Trace Trainer, (awarded by Leave No Trace Ireland).

You can get in touch with Nathan through the OutdoorsIreland.com website but do hurry as the bushcraft skills courses are filling up fast!

If you’re looking for accommodation in the area I found the local Glengarriff Facebook Group very helpful with offers of accommodation options etc.
