A Visit to Gortbrac Organic Farm & Eco Cabins Tralee

Like magic, the rain disappeared after I left Tralee Bay Wetlands and I found myself arriving (very easily – thanks again to my trusty Smartphone companion Google Maps) at a quaint little sign for Gortbrac Organic Farm.

Gortbrac Organic Farm is much more than an Organic farm. Owned, Created (literally) and Managed by Ian and Eileen Mc Grigor – with help from Cathy Eastman :), Gortbrac Organic Farm offer comfortable private Eco Accommodation and lot’s of really cool and interesting workshops and events throughout the year.

Workshops held here include Mushroom Foraging, Natural Cosmetics, Seaweed Foraging, Biodiversity, Woodland Management, Coppicing and oh so much more!

Ian’s background is in biodiversity and education so he can put together a customised grow plan for your school, club, business or private area based on working with what already exists and the introduction of suitable native species.

Accommodation is available and eco friendly with two eco cabins available for rent both utilising best sustainable practices yet having a bit of luxury (regular loos anyone?) thrown in for good measure!

I really enjoyed my visit here and plan to head back very soon – for the seaweed forage if I can get out of a pre arranged date!
