We’ve seen the movies, identified the ‘prospector’, imagined the thrill of striking GOLD!
Now is your opportunity to travel to the Vale of Avoca, “one of Europe’s most beautiful locations”and try your hand at some river panning for Gold
We can’t promise a large nugget of gold of the 22 oz variety which, local legend has it, was found in this valley and made into a snuff box for King George VI, but there’s gold in Wicklow still! In fact gold has just been rediscovered in the Avoca area by a large mining company, with a view to mining it in the near future.
We can promise lots of fun, beautiful landscapes, a great guide, lots of camaraderie and, maybe, a little bit of gold….
All you need is your enthusiasm!
- When: Every Saturday at 10am
- How Long?: Approximately 2-3 hours
- Meeting Point: Avoca Handweavers Mill, Avoca Village
How to Get There:
by car to Avoca or bus* to Arklow with complimentary transfer to Avoca for up to 6 people maximum.
Bookings must be made 24 hours in advance.
Gold Panning Vouchers:
- Family Ticket (2 adults 2 children) €60
- (€5 per additional child)
- Couple €50,
- Single Adult €25
(includes Gold Panning Activity, use of All Gold Panning Equipment, warming Avoca Cafe soup and brown bread (hot chocolate for the kids), and Avoca Mill Tour)
