Tralee Bay Wetlands

Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre has an Observation Tower, Lakeside Café, Interactive Wildlife Exhibition, Boat Tours, Bird Hides, light Watersports & Activity Lake making it an ideal stopoff for families visiting or living in Tralee.

On the day I popped by it was lashing rain so unfortunately I didn’t get to see it in it’s best light – those paddleboats are much more attractive in the sunshine I’m sure 🙂

However it was good weather for ducks, geese and generally animals that like, well, wetlands!

So after a short chat with ecologist & tour guide David Mc Cormick I headed out to the Observation Tower which does indeed give great aerial views of the wetlands.

The place was buzzing with a large group of Leaving cert students who were visiting at the time all learning about the local area.

The land was an old wasteland site and was reclaimed with help from Failte Ireland and has been landscaped into reed beds and marshlands.

A great family day out or school tour option.

David gives a great overview of the centre and what it offers visitors on our audio below.
